The Balates Method was created by former San Francisco ballerina Vanessa Bossardt in 2003. An ankle injury created an unusual opportunity for Vanessa to focus on rehabilitation, and it sparked the idea for a training method that blended the grace and beauty of ballet, with the stretch and balance of the Pilates method.
The Balates method used mind and body to create harmonious results. The spirit is lifted, the body is toned and tightened, and the mind is sharp; Balates is a holistic approach to heath and wellness.
Creator Vanessa Bossardt has received Anatomy training as well as Injury and Special Populations instruction, which has lead her to a greater understanding of the body and all that is required to cater towards a client’s needs, if working through any physical limitation or challenging condition. Vanessa is excited to work with ballet dancers, athletes, and all those who wish to condition their bodies and desire to achieve the look, strength, flexibility and the aesthetic appeal of a graceful dancer’s physique, as well as improve the body’s ability to achieve optimal results for any sport or practice.
